Al-Shabab crushes Al-Hazm 4-0 with Junior's hat-trick in the Roshan League
Al Shabab achieved a resounding 4-0 victory over Al Hazm in the 19th round of the Saudi Professional League, thanks to a hat-trick from Brazilian Carlos Junior and a goal from Josh Brownhill.

In a memorable football match at Al-Hazm Club Stadium in Ar Rass, Al-Shabab secured a resounding and well-deserved 4-0 victory over their hosts, Al-Hazm, in the 19th round of the Saudi Professional League. This impressive win marks Al-Shabab's third victory in the league this season and is crucial for improving their position in the standings.
Background and importance of the meeting
The two teams entered the match with contrasting objectives. Al-Shabab, one of the most established clubs in Saudi football, sought to appease its fans and distance itself from the relegation zone after a disappointing start to the season. Al-Hazm, on the other hand, hoped to capitalize on home advantage and a supportive crowd to secure a positive result in its fight against relegation. This match comes amidst an exceptional season for the Roshan League, which has attracted international stars, intensifying the competition and making every point crucial.
Match details and turning point
The first half began cautiously for both teams, with play largely confined to midfield, though Al-Shabab held a slight advantage as they attempted to impose their control. Despite the apparent parity, the decisive turning point came in the 39th minute when the referee showed Al-Hazm defender Saud Al-Rashed his second yellow card, followed by a red, leaving the home side to finish the match with ten men. This numerical disadvantage clearly impacted Al-Hazm's balance and gave Al-Shabab a significant advantage to exploit in the second half.
Youthful explosion in the second half
At the start of the second half, Al Shabab completely dominated the game and translated that dominance into goals. The brilliant Brazilian striker, Carlos Junior, opened the scoring in the 51st minute after a superb finish from a cross. Junior wasn't finished there, adding his second and his team's second with a perfectly placed header from a corner kick in the 65th minute. In the 75th minute, new English signing Josh Brownhill compounded Al Hazm's misery by scoring the third goal from a penalty kick. Just a minute before the final whistle, Carlos Junior completed his hat-trick, pouncing on a rebound off the crossbar to seal a resounding 4-0 victory for his team.
Impact of the result on the league standings
With this resounding victory, Al-Shabab raised their points tally to 21, temporarily climbing to eleventh place and taking a significant step away from the relegation zone, boosting the morale of their players for upcoming matches. On the other hand, Al-Hazm's points remained at 12, leaving them in last place and further complicating their fight to avoid relegation from the top division. This puts immense pressure on the team to find quick solutions in the remaining matches of the season.

In a thrilling and closely contested match, Al-Hilal, the Saudi Pro League leaders, stumbled to a 2-2 draw against Al-Qadisiyah at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, in the 19th round of the competition. This result means Al-Hilal have now dropped points for the second consecutive match, potentially opening the door for their rivals to close the gap in the heated title race.
Background of the meeting and its importance in the context of the league
Al-Hilal enters this match at the top of the league standings, aiming to solidify its position and widen the gap with its closest rivals, especially after the strong performance the team has delivered throughout the season. Meanwhile, Al-Qadisiyah is enjoying a remarkable season, currently sitting in fourth place, and aspires to achieve a positive result against the league leaders to boost its chances of qualifying for Asian championships. This season's Roshan League matches are gaining increasing international significance, thanks to the participation of a host of world-class football stars, raising the level of competition and making each round a focus of attention for fans worldwide.
Details and events of the exciting match
The match began at a fast and surprising pace from Al-Hilal, who managed to open the scoring early in the eighth minute through their Portuguese star, Ruben Neves, from a direct corner kick that deceived Belgian goalkeeper Keown Casteels and found the back of the net. However, Al-Hilal's joy was short-lived, as the home side responded quickly in the tenth minute when Uruguayan Nahitan Nandez capitalized on a perfectly weighted pass to go one-on-one with the goalkeeper and expertly placed the ball to the left of Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. After the two goals, the two teams exchanged attacks, with Al-Hilal missing a chance to regain the lead through Uruguayan Darwin Nunez, while the Al-Qadisiyah goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny Salem Al-Dawsari's powerful shot.
The second half was even more exciting. Al-Hilal were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute, but Salem Al-Dawsari stepped up to take it, only for goalkeeper Castilles to make a brilliant save. As Al-Hilal pressed hard for the go-ahead goal, Al-Qadisiyah surprised everyone by scoring their second goal in the 76th minute from a corner kick. Mexican striker Julian Quiñones rose to meet the ball and headed it into the net, leaving the Al-Hilal defense stunned. Just when it seemed Al-Qadisiyah were heading for a historic victory, Salem Al-Dawsari redeemed himself for his earlier penalty miss, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute after a scramble in the penalty area following the corner kick, rescuing his team from a certain defeat.
Impact of the result on the league standings
With this draw, Al-Hilal increased their points tally to 46, maintaining their lead, but they lost two valuable points in the title race. Al-Qadisiyah, meanwhile, raised their points total to 40, strengthening their hold on fourth place. This result underscores the fierce competition in the Saudi Professional League, where mid-table teams have proven their ability to upset the big clubs, promising an exceptional season and intense competition right up to the final rounds.
