FIFA penalizes Pyramids FC over "electronic passport" issue
Egyptian club Pyramids FC has received official notification from FIFA that it is suspended from registering its players during the upcoming period
Egyptian club Pyramids FC received official notification from FIFA that it will be suspended from registering its players in the coming period, due to the failure to complete the administrative procedures related to an electronic passport for its Nigerian player Samuel Ojo, in addition to the dues owed to Tunisian Omar Laayouni.
According to what FIFA announced on its official website, the decision to suspend registration included five Egyptian clubs, namely Ismaily, Aswan, Pyramids, Pharco and Eastern Company, due to issues related to financial dues and player registration procedures.
In this context, an official source within Pyramids FC – who preferred not to reveal his identity – stated in exclusive remarks to the German Press Agency that the club is seeking to resolve the crisis in the coming hours, confirming that the Omar Laayouni case has already been settled, while the current suspension decision is related to an administrative matter concerning its young Nigerian player, Samuel Ojo.
The source explained that Ojo was unable to obtain his electronic passport through FIFA's system, a new mandatory procedure required by the international federation for registering players transitioning from youth to professional status. The source indicated that the player is currently on loan to El Gouna FC, but FIFA deemed the responsibility for completing the procedures to lie with his parent club, Pyramids FC, leading to the transfer ban.

The source confirmed that FIFA has begun implementing this system for the first time globally, where obtaining an electronic passport has become a prerequisite for players to move from the youth category to the professional category.
Regarding Omar Laayouni’s dues, the source stressed that the issue has been fully resolved after the outstanding dues were paid in the past period, noting that the club is currently working on settling the administrative issue related to Ojo in order to end the registration suspension as soon as possible.
