In a move that reinforces the values of social solidarity and charitable work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and President of the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta, Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan, participated in launching the "Generosity is from Us and Within Us" campaign. This campaign is being conducted through the "Jood Housing" platform, one of the leading national initiatives overseen by the "Sakan" Development Housing Foundation, with the aim of providing sustainable housing solutions for the most needy families.

Supporting wise leadership for charitable work

The Grand Mufti began his remarks by expressing his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister, for their generous donation that launched the campaign. He emphasized that this gracious support from the leadership embodies their commitment to addressing the needs of citizens and serves as a powerful incentive for all segments of society to contribute to this noble national initiative, which aims to empower deserving families to obtain suitable housing that guarantees them a dignified life.

Jood Housing Platform: A Model for Digital Transformation in the Non-Profit Sector

The "Generosity is from us and within us" campaign gains its significance from being launched through the "Jood Housing" platform, a successful model for leveraging technology in the service of charitable work. This platform aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to develop the non-profit sector and increase its contribution to the GDP, in addition to enhancing transparency and reliability in delivering donations to those who deserve them. The platform governs charitable housing work, making it easier for donors and contributors to reach deserving cases with ease and ensuring that support is directed to its rightful beneficiaries across the Kingdom.

The social and economic impact of providing housing

The Grand Mufti praised the pivotal role of the "Sakan" Foundation in organizing community giving efforts and transforming them into tangible, practical solutions. He pointed out that providing housing has an impact that extends beyond the material aspect to include the psychological and social stability of the family, which positively affects society as a whole. Housing is the cornerstone for building a stable family capable of contributing to the nation's development, and alleviating the hardship of needy families in this regard is among the greatest acts of charity and benevolence encouraged by our noble religion.

An invitation to the affluent to hasten towards good deeds

In closing, the Grand Mufti extended a general invitation to all citizens, including the affluent, businesspeople, and philanthropists, to hasten their support for the "Generosity is from Us and Among Us" campaign. He emphasized that giving in this area is considered a continuous act of charity, the benefits of which extend and whose reward is magnified by God Almighty, as the donor contributes to providing for Muslim families and alleviating their distress. He asked God Almighty to reward the supporters and contributors abundantly, to place their contributions on the scales of their good deeds, and to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and solidarity upon the Kingdom.

In a move reflecting the depth of social solidarity and enhancing the presence of national products in charitable endeavors, His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, launched the fifth edition of the national charitable initiative “Najoud with Our Goodness” for the year 2026. This initiative is organized by the Saudi Export Development Authority, represented by the “Made in Saudi Arabia” program, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, to create a scene of renewed giving during the holy month of Ramadan.

Promoting social responsibility and honoring partners

The Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh hosted the launch ceremony for the initiative, where Minister Al-Khorayef honored 25 leading national companies that actively contributed to its success. These companies played a pivotal role in providing high-quality, locally produced goods for inclusion in Ramadan food baskets, reflecting the private sector's commitment to its social responsibility. The initiative primarily aims to support deserving families and ensure their food needs are met during the holy month, with the active participation of the National Industrialization Company (Tasnee) and the Etaam Charitable Association, thus exemplifying the integration of roles between the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

A qualitative leap in the scale of the contribution and the impact

The 2026 edition of the initiative achieved a significant leap in scale and impact compared to the previous year, with efforts doubling to reach a wider segment of beneficiaries. Official statistics from the initiative revealed that 10,000 Ramadan food baskets were distributed this year, containing over 300,000 diverse food and consumer products. This figure is double that of the previous edition, which saw the distribution of 5,000 baskets containing 150,000 products, confirming the initiative's continued growth and its capacity to expand to meet increasing needs.

Using technology to serve charitable work

To keep pace with the digital transformation and facilitate donations, the campaign included implementing supporting initiatives based on modern technological solutions. This included a fruitful collaboration between The Chefs app and the Insan Association for Orphan Care, which created a dedicated tab for the “Najoud Bikhairna” initiative, as well as a collaboration between Jahez and the Etaam Charitable Association to provide a direct donation option through the “Food Baskets” tab. This digital approach makes it easier for community members to contribute to charitable causes and enhances the efficiency of reaching beneficiaries.

Context of the initiative and its national dimensions

It is worth noting that the “Najoud Bikhairna” initiative was first launched in 2022 as part of the “Made in Saudi Arabia” program, which aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s industrial identity and link it to noble humanitarian values. This initiative is particularly important because it not only provides food support but also promotes national products, making them the preferred choice for Ramadan iftar meals. This, in turn, supports the local economy and contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in developing local content and strengthening social solidarity.

Al-Haqil: 313 non-profit organizations and housing support for 106,000 families

During the government press conference held on Monday, the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid Al-Hogail, confirmed that a qualitative shift has occurred in the path of the third (non-profit) sector within the municipalities and housing system, stressing the ministry’s success in transforming this sector from mere sponsoring entities to a strategic development partner that directly addresses citizens’ needs and contributes to raising the quality of life.

Record numbers and a sustainable development partnership

Al-Haqil presented the sector's rapid growth in terms of figures, revealing that more than 313 non-profit organizations operate under the umbrella of the system, supported by a massive contingent of over 345,000 volunteers working as a unified team. These efforts align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP and promote a culture of volunteerism. The minister noted that 1.4 million volunteers have registered in the past five years, reflecting a growing public awareness of the importance of humanitarian work.

Housing support and protection for the most vulnerable groups

Regarding the housing sector, a top priority, Al-Haqil explained that the partnership with the non-profit sector has resulted in 106,000 beneficiaries from social security families receiving housing support, in addition to protecting over 200,000 individuals who lost their homes. This reflects the sector's pivotal role in providing a social safety net for housing. He also mentioned the rental support program, which this year helped 6,600 families, thus expanding its reach to include multiple segments of society.

Jood Housing Platform: A Model of Social Solidarity

The minister highlighted the success story of the “Jood Housing” platform, which started by serving only 100 families, and today serves more than 50,000 families, thanks to the support of more than 4.5 million donors and total contributions exceeding 5 billion riyals since 2021. Al-Haqil appreciated the generous support and good example set by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as they were the first to donate to the platform during the month of Ramadan, which enhances confidence in these national platforms.

Quality initiatives to improve the urban landscape

The non-profit sector's efforts were not limited to housing; they extended to improving the urban landscape and quality of life. Al-Haqil noted that the target for 2025 was to establish 33 parks, but the sector successfully achieved 77 parks, significantly exceeding the target. The sector also implemented more than 300 development initiatives and provided over 1,000 services, empowering 100 non-profit organizations and activating supervisory units in 17 municipalities. This underscores the institutionalization of volunteer and development work to ensure its sustainability and direct impact on residents' lives.
