Training course for UN staff in Marib on the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance
The Masam demining project continues its vital role in combating explosive devices of death that continue to disrupt life in Yemen
The Masam demining project continues its vital role in combating explosive devices of death that still disrupt life in Yemen, through the removal and destruction of unexploded materials by the teams of this humanitarian project, until Yemen is free of mines and safe from their evil.
In this context, the media center of the “Masam” demining project in Yemen issued its monthly report for August 2024, as this report indicated that the total number of mines, unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices removed in this month amounted to 4,413.
During August 2024, the project successfully removed 4,018 pieces of unexploded ordnance and 299 anti-tank mines, clearing a total of 926,082 square meters of Yemeni land. Additionally, the project destroyed 852 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices during the same month.
It is noted that the total number of mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices removed since the launch of the Masam project at the end of June 2018 has reached 457,711, planted by the Houthi militia in a terrifyingly random manner in various Yemeni governorates. The total area cleared has reached 59,201,344 square meters since the launch of the project until today.
Honorable harvest
Out of concern for securing the lives of Yemenis from mines that are being permanently removed, the Masam Project for Mine Clearance carried out a destruction and detonation operation for 580 mines, improvised explosive devices and unexploded shells in Wadi Dhahban in Ain District, Shabwa Governorate, southeastern Yemen.
Project Masam also carried out another destruction and detonation operation for 272 shells and unexploded ordnance in the Dofas area, in the Zinjibar district of Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen.
According to the Masam Operations Room, the operation, carried out by the special missions team, included 248 worn-out unexploded shells, 3 improvised explosive devices, in addition to 14 dangerous pieces of missile remnants and 6 assorted fuses.
The destruction process took place in an area that complies with international standards for the disposal of mines, explosive devices and remnants of war, as the Doufs Valley is located far from any population centers or pastoral and agricultural areas.
Migrant mines
Team 26 of Masam added a qualitative success to the records of excellence of the Masam humanitarian project, as it succeeded in removing a number of mines and explosive devices that were swept away by the recent floods from the districts of Maqbana and Hays in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.
It is noted that one of the devices was removed from the Maqbana area of Taiz, while the other device and mine were extracted from Wadi Dhami in Hays district in Al Hudaydah governorate.
The commander of Team 26 Masam confirmed that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to protect civilians from the dangers of mines planted by the Houthi militia in several Yemeni regions, calling on all citizens to cooperate with the engineering teams and report any suspicious objects.
vital tasks
Team 26 Masam also managed to find explosive devices in a water well in the Dhami area of Al Hudaydah Governorate.
The deputy commander of Team 26 Masam, Engineer Mohammed Alwan, said that the team received a report from the security administration of the Dhumi area, which is part of the Hays Directorate in Al Hudaydah Governorate, stating that there were explosive devices in a water well in the Dhumi area.
The report came after a farmer found a strange object while cleaning the well, prompting him to inform the security department, which in turn informed the Masam team.
Team 20 Masam also managed to secure and retrieve 4 anti-tank mines from the villages of Hejah Obeid and Al-Dhariba, in the center of Rab’a Al-Souq, in Hays District, Al-Hudaydah Governorate, western Yemen.
Achievements and praise
The Director General of Planning in Al Hudaydah Governorate, Ahmed Bourji, praised the great efforts made by the Masam Project for mine clearance, affiliated with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid in Al Hudaydah Governorate, stressing that the local authority in the governorate, led by Governor Dr. Al-Hassan Taher, will spare no effort in providing all facilities to remove the mines planted by the Houthi terrorist militias.
On the other hand, the Masam project organized a training course for members of international organizations working in Marib Governorate, on the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance that they may encounter while performing their field missions.
The project’s deputy director general, Mr. Retief Horn, explained that the course targeted members of 5 international organizations working in Marib.
The organizations targeted included International Solidarity (SI), International Relief (RI), Oxfam, the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED), the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the International Council of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The course aims to familiarize participants with the types of mines and dangerous munitions prevalent in Yemen, including anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, types of unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices.
The course also focused on preventive measures to be taken to avoid dangerous situations and how to act if found in areas suspected of being mined.

Hezbollah bombs Haifa in revenge for Khamenei: Details of the attack on Mishmar al-Karmel
Hezbollah announces it bombed the Mishmar al-Karmel site south of Haifa with missiles and drones in retaliation for the killing of Khamenei. Details of the dangerous military escalation on the northern front and developments in the war.
In a significant military development that threatens an unprecedented escalation on the northern front, the Lebanese Hezbollah group claimed responsibility early Monday morning for a complex military operation targeting the Israeli heartland. In an official statement, the group confirmed targeting the Israeli army's Mishmar al-Karmel missile defense site, located south of Haifa, using advanced missiles and a swarm of attack drones.
Details of the operation and its timing
The party explained in its statement that the operation was carried out with high precision at midnight between Sunday and Monday (March 2, 2026). The statement declared that this attack was "revenge" for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and "in defense of Lebanon and its people," thus giving a broader regional dimension to this attack, which transcends traditional rules of engagement.
Implications of targeting Haifa and the strategic dimension
Targeting the southern Haifa area, specifically the Mishmar al-Karmel site, represents a qualitative shift in Hezbollah's target bank. Haifa is a vital artery and an industrial and strategic center for the occupation, and targeting its defensive installations indicates Hezbollah's attempt to overwhelm Israeli air defense systems, paving the way for potential missile waves. Historically, the "Haifa and beyond" equation established by the resistance has served as a significant deterrent, and its activation today confirms that the conflict has entered a decisive phase.
The regional context and the killing of Khamenei
The direct link between the operation and the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei presents the region with a range of open-ended scenarios. Hezbollah is thus declaring that its response to the assassination of the axis leaders is not confined to Iranian territory, but extends to all fronts of support. This development underscores the unity and interconnectedness of the various arenas, as this attack is seen as part of a broader response that may encompass other fronts in the region.
"warning response" messages and the ongoing war
The party's statement indicated that the continued assassinations and attacks give the resistance "the right to respond at the appropriate time and place." The statement also noted that Israel "cannot continue its fifteen-month-long aggression without facing a response." This timeframe (15 months) reflects a protracted war of attrition, in which each side attempts to impose new rules of engagement through force. Analysts confirm that the missiles reaching southern Haifa signify the failure of attempts to neutralize Hezbollah's missile capabilities, despite the ongoing airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern Lebanon, thus presenting settlers in the north and center of the country with a complex security situation.

Trump: Our operations in Iran continue despite the killing of 3 soldiers
In his first comment, President Trump confirmed the deaths of three American soldiers in Iran, warning of further losses and stressing the continuation of the fight until the objectives are achieved, via Truth Social.
In a notable escalation of the military situation, US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that further casualties among US forces during the ongoing combat mission inside Iranian territory are "likely," while stressing that military operations will not stop and will continue "until the United States achieves its objectives in full.".
Fiery statements via Truth Social
President Trump's remarks came in a video posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he adopted a firm and frank tone regarding the cost of the war. Trump stated, "The fighting continues at full force and will continue until all of our objectives are achieved. We have very strong objectives," refraining from elaborating on those strategic goals or revealing a timeline for the end of the operations. This leaves the door open to widespread speculation about the scope and scale of the conflict.
National mourning and the cost of confrontation
The US president had previously announced the deaths of three American service members, describing the event as tragic and affirming that the nation was in mourning. In his eulogy for the soldiers, he added, "As one nation, we mourn the patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country." These statements serve to confront the American public with the stark reality of the human cost of this direct military involvement.
Context of historical conflict and tension
These developments are exceptionally dangerous given the history of strained relations between Washington and Tehran. While relations between the two countries have been tense for decades, the shift from proxy wars or naval skirmishes to a direct US "combat mission" and resulting casualties represents a radical change in the rules of engagement. Observers believe that Trump's talk of "strong targets" may indicate an effort to neutralize significant military capabilities or fundamentally alter the balance of power in the region, which explains his warning that there is still a long way to go.
Expected regional and international repercussions
This escalation is expected to cast a long shadow over the stability of the entire Middle East region. Continued military operations and the prospect of further casualties could trigger a chain reaction affecting international maritime security and global energy supplies. Furthermore, the US administration's insistence on pressing ahead until "all objectives are achieved" leaves the international community with a range of scenarios, from full-scale military escalation to intense diplomatic pressure aimed at containing the situation before it spirals completely out of control.

Salman Industrial City (formerly Al Hidd Industrial Area) holds significant strategic and economic importance for the Kingdom of Bahrain, serving as one of the region's leading hubs for heavy industries and logistics. The city also houses vital ship repair and maintenance facilities, making it a key player in the maritime and shipping sector. This incident highlights the challenges that sensitive industrial areas may face; however, the swift containment of the fire underscores the robust safety infrastructure of Bahrain's maritime facilities.
On a regional and security level, the missile interception incident highlights the effectiveness of the Kingdom of Bahrain's air defense systems in protecting its airspace and vital installations. Bahrain plays a pivotal role in the security of the Arabian Gulf and international navigation, given its strategic geographic location. Experts confirm that such incidents, though rare, are handled according to the highest security standards to ensure the continued flow of trade and business in ports and industrial areas with minimal disruption.
In conclusion, the Bahraini authorities reassured the public that the situation is under control, stressing the importance of community awareness in dealing with emergency circumstances, and emphasizing that the safety of lives and property remains the top priority for all security and service agencies in the Kingdom.
