Dr. Saud Al-Musaibih, CEO of the Ta’aruf Center for Family Counseling, was a guest on the “Ta’zeez” program, which is adopted by the University of Tabuk, represented by the Prince Fahd bin Sultan Chair for the Study of Youth Issues and Their Development.

Al-Musaybih opened his talk to the students about the impact of intellectual and media invasion on the youth, and how electronic games and social media platforms are exploited by enemies and haters to spread their poison and deviant ideas, taking advantage of the ease of access through these platforms.

Al-Musaybih suggested approving a curriculum for media culture or education starting from the first grade of primary school until the third grade of secondary school, through which educational and awareness doses are provided in a balanced manner to students through dealing with these platforms and the content and materials they broadcast, and how to deal with rumors.

The CEO of the Ta’aruf Center for Family Counseling pointed out that the Kingdom and its youth are being targeted by entities that send greetings through social media platforms and chat rooms, seeking to spread rumors and create discord. This must be countered by raising awareness, and this is primarily the role of the school and the teacher, so that they can deal with it and respond to it optimally, and be a barrier against these rumors and their spread, and this will reflect on the psychological security of society.

Dr. Saud called for the adoption of a curriculum on the jurisprudence of difference in light of the new generations’ dealings with many changes around them. This requires them to be positive in dealing with others without exclusion. There is no doubt that the jurisprudence of difference makes young men and women look at what is around them in a positive and moderate way and makes them more understanding of what is going on around them.

He stressed that preparing the youth well and fortifying them in a way that enables them to coexist without being negatively affected by their surroundings will reflect positively on future families, whose foundation will be these generations of young men and women.

Al-Musaybih pointed out that preparing the right teacher is the main focus in developing education, because we want to transform the teacher to deal with his profession as a mission and not as a job, praising the new direction for developing the teacher through the (teacher license) and introducing activities that enhance the genius of students under the supervision of teachers, and changing the university system by linking the evaluation of academics to production, scientific research and creativity.

Dr. Saud distinguished between voluntary and pathological introversion, explaining that the first type is voluntary, motivated by education, development, and scientific research, while the other type affects thought and behavior, leading the young man to deviant paths and falling into the clutches of terrorism.

He cited the fact that many people turned to terrorism in previous periods due to a state of isolation, which allowed them to be exploited by hostile parties through chat rooms, brainwashed, and turned into terrorists.

He denied the relationship between terrorism, poverty, and unemployment, saying: “From practical experience in the field of counseling through my work as an advisor in the Ministry of Interior and counseling committees earlier, I found that most of those who were influenced by the misguided ideology are from financially capable families, and many of them have jobs, and some of them are in prestigious institutions.”.

He called for the importance of containing the youth by paying attention to them, showing interest in them, and involving them in activities so that they do not fall victim to introversion that leads to being influenced by misguided thought.

The social advisor promised the teacher another father to the student; therefore, it is necessary to develop him, with attention to student guidance, stressing that one of the problems we suffered from in the past was the assignment of student guidance jobs in our schools by unqualified people, which was reflected in a disruption of the goals of their tasks in educational institutions and was reflected negatively on the students, explaining that one of the tasks of student guidance is to discover the problems and deviations of students and work to fix and correct them with the help of the teacher on the one hand and the family on the other.

Al-Musaybih put his finger on one of the problems that contributed to the spread of deviant thought and terrorist operations by failing to instill loyalty and love for the homeland and its rulers, saying: “A young man who loves his country cannot blow himself up in it.”.

He praised the steps taken in recent years under the leadership of Crown Prince and Vision architect Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in paying attention to the citizen and promoting the values of citizenship through various programs inside and outside schools, which contributed to raising awareness and understanding of the value of the homeland, which is what we feel from the security and safety we live in.

He cited the Kingdom’s achievement of first place globally in safety for walking at night without any problems, crimes, or cases being recorded against an unknown person, stressing that the increased awareness of society, especially the youth, despite the great openness we are witnessing, and the increased loyalty and love for the homeland, have contributed to raising the level of security.

At the end of his speech, the CEO of the Ta’aruf Center for Family Counseling praised the positive step taken by the University of Tabuk, represented by the Prince Fahd bin Sultan Chair for the Study of Youth Issues, through the launch of this program, which will have the greatest impact on male and female students. He expressed his gratitude to the Prince of the region for his attention to youth and their issues and for working to reform and correct them scientifically through the Chair of Youth Issues.

The “Enhancement” initiative is the first of its kind to discuss youth issues and enhance their character through media initiatives and various events, starting with a radio program of 8 meetings broadcast during the current year, and is based on several national, social, cultural, intellectual, psychological, media and functional pillars.

It aims to enhance the character of the young citizen through an integrated system that seeks to deepen national belonging, promote the values of moderation, tolerance, positivity and perseverance, and strengthen partnerships with relevant parties through active participation in the program.
