The Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Reserve Development Authority revealed the regulations for camping in the reserve, in order to preserve the natural environment, plants and wildlife. Camping is prohibited except after obtaining a permit, and the Authority determines the areas and sites that are permitted.

The permit holder is not entitled to more than one campsite in all designated locations, and vehicles are prohibited from parking on roads and walkways; parking must be within the campsite.

The regulations stressed staying away from high-voltage electricity lines, and military and public service facilities such as communication poles, oil pipelines, water and fuel stations at a distance of no less than (200) meters.

According to the regulations, the camping season begins in October and ends at the end of April each year. The Authority may amend or extend the season period at its discretion. Camping is for personal use only, and the camping site may not be invested in, rented to others, sold, or used for any purpose other than that for which it was authorized. The permit holder is obligated to place an identification sign at the main entrance of the campsite according to the specifications determined by the Authority. The permit holder is also obligated to vacate the camping site at the end of the specified period and to clean the site before vacating it by removing waste and garbage and transporting it to designated areas. Furthermore, the permit holder is obligated to stop and eliminate the source of pollution and to carry out environmental rehabilitation and treatment if any action or activity leads to the deterioration or pollution of the environment.

It also commits to using lighting poles that do not exceed (4.5) meters in height, and to using electric generators with soundproofing capabilities, and that the electrical wires are insulated from water reaching them and conform to Saudi specifications, standards and quality.

The regulations emphasized not using firewood, charcoal, or burning to start fires, and setting up a room designated for sanitation, which is removed at the end of the camping period and its pit is buried in a safe manner. It also prohibited exposure to all types of wild wildlife, or hunting them, their eggs, their nests, or chasing them.

The regulations prohibited the construction of rooms or walls with blocks, stone, cement and the like, or the placement of a screen of cloth or plastic, or the placement of sand barriers (barriers), wooden or concrete barriers, barbed wire, vehicle tires and the like.

It also prohibited the installation of barracks or hangars, or any other construction materials, and the digging of wells or fixed concrete tanks for sewage purposes.

The regulations stipulate that the permit holder must pay a deposit of no less than fifty thousand riyals, and this amount is refundable after the end of the camping season. In the event of a violation, the deduction from the deposit will be assessed.
