The U.S. State Department announced today (Tuesday) the formation of a special Middle East task force to help coordinate support for American citizens, diplomatic missions, and personnel.

State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said the department has formed a special Middle East task force to help coordinate support for U.S. citizens, diplomatic missions, and personnel amid the conflict between Israel and Iran. Speaking at a press conference, she added that the task force aims to help ensure the State Department and U.S. citizens have access to the information they may need.

The American statement coincided with confirmations from a White House official that US President Donald Trump is currently meeting with the National Security Council to discuss the Israeli-Iranian conflict, indicating that Trump has vowed to launch a strike against Iran, and that members of Congress have shared his intentions, but there are fears of the current war between Israel and Iran escalating.

Fox News quoted a White House official as saying that US strikes on targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities, are on the table. This came after Iran informed mediators that it was not prepared to engage in negotiations while it was under continuous Israeli attack, despite regional and international calls to contain the escalation and open channels for dialogue in preparation for a ceasefire.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the biggest mistake today is trying to change the regime in Iran by military means, calling for a "return to negotiations with Tehran.".

Macron added: "Perhaps US President Donald Trump has changed his mind about Iran since yesterday," referring to the possibility of Washington launching a strike against Tehran and participating in the war.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 quoted Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi as saying: “We do not want to appear as if we are enticing the United States to join the war,” adding: “This operation will not end without the destruction of the Fordow nuclear facility, and I do not know if Washington will join the war, and I believe that the decision has not been made.”.

The Israeli occupation army announced this evening that the air force carried out attacks targeting 12 sites deep inside Iranian territory, explaining that these sites were designated for launching and storing missiles aimed at Israel.

He noted that the targeted sites included surface-to-surface missile launch platforms and weapons depots, as part of Israeli efforts to weaken Iranian missile capabilities.

In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said it targeted Israeli air bases in new attacks, while the Iranian Cyber Security Authority said the Zionist entity had launched a cyber war against the country’s digital infrastructure to disrupt services.

She noted that her teams had successfully countered a large number of enemy attacks on the country’s digital infrastructure and were working to restore digital services.

Six US soldiers killed and Tehran bombed on the fourth day of the war

The ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, entered its fourth day amidst an unprecedented military escalation. Intense military operations continued on Tuesday, including heavy airstrikes targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran. These attacks focused particularly on strategic military sites, while Tehran continued its retaliatory strikes, launching missile barrages targeting Tel Aviv and several other vital locations.

American casualties and developments on the ground

In a significant development indicating an escalation of the ground and air confrontation, the US Central Command officially announced the deaths of six US service members during combat operations in the ongoing conflict with Iran. While the command did not disclose precise details about the location or circumstances of the soldiers' deaths, this announcement represents a turning point that could lead to fundamental changes in the rules of engagement in the coming days.

Concurrently with these developments, the Israeli military issued urgent warnings to residents of Tehran, urging them to evacuate immediately and specifying certain areas deemed dangerous to civilians. The warning specifically targeted residents living near the headquarters of the Iranian state broadcaster, suggesting an intention to target government media and communications centers as part of a new wave of airstrikes aimed at crippling the regime's vital capabilities.

Strategic goals and political stance

On the political and diplomatic front, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clearly outlined the objectives of this war. In press statements, Rubio expressed his personal support for the idea of regime change in Tehran, saying, "We hope that the Iranian people will be able to overthrow this government and establish a new future for that country, and we would be happy if that could be achieved." However, Rubio was careful to distinguish between his political aspirations and the stated military objectives, emphasizing that "the goal of this military mission is to destroy their ballistic missile and naval capabilities" to neutralize the Iranian threat to the region.

The context of the conflict and its regional repercussions

This direct military escalation brings to an end a long era of "shadow wars" and proxy conflicts that have characterized relations between the warring parties for decades. The shift to direct targeting of capitals (Tehran and Tel Aviv) places the entire Middle East region before open and complex scenarios. Observers believe that the American-Israeli focus on destroying missile and naval capabilities aims to secure international waterways and protect allies in the region from long-range aerial threats, which could redraw the region's security map for years to come.

The US military destroys 11 ships and 1,250 Iranian targets

In a significant and notable military escalation, the US military announced today (Monday) that it has intensified its military operations against Iranian regime targets, as the war enters its third consecutive day. Official data revealed that more than 1,250 strategic targets inside and outside Iran have been struck since the start of operations, in a move aimed at neutralizing military capabilities that threaten regional security.

Clearing the Gulf of Oman of Iranian ships

In detailing the naval operation, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed in an official statement that it had achieved a significant success by completely destroying Iranian naval capabilities in the Gulf of Oman. The statement clarified that the Iranian regime no longer possesses any vessels in these vital waters, after 11 ships that were present there were targeted and destroyed just two days prior. This decisive action comes within the framework of Washington's strategy to secure international waterways and ensure the safety of commercial shipping.

End of the era of maritime threats

In its statement, Central Command emphasized that “the Iranian regime has been attacking international shipping in the Gulf of Oman for decades, and those days are over.” These remarks clearly signal a shift in the rules of engagement, moving from a policy of containment to one of direct deterrence and a decisive end to threats, reflecting growing American impatience with destabilizing activities in the waterways.

Strategic importance and freedom of navigation

In discussing the historical and economic context, the US military noted that freedom of navigation has been a cornerstone of American and global economic prosperity for over 80 years. The Gulf of Oman is a vital waterway connecting the Arabian Sea to the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes. The United States has long considered the protection of these waterways an integral part of its national security and global economic security, as any disruption in this region has direct repercussions for global energy markets.

Reaffirming the American commitment

The US military concluded its statement by affirming that American forces will continue to defend freedom of navigation resolutely and will not allow any future threats to impede international trade. This military move carries multiple messages, not only to Tehran but to the entire international community, indicating that Washington is prepared to use its overwhelming military force to protect global economic interests and impose stability in the Middle East.

Zelenskyy offers Ukraine's experience in shooting down drones to allies

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy announces his country's readiness to share tactics for shooting down Iranian Shahed drones with allies, and calls on Europe to increase production of air defense systems.

Zelenskyy offers Ukraine's experience in shooting down drones to allies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today (Monday) that his country is fully prepared to transfer its combat experience gained on the battlefield, specifically in confronting Iranian Shahed drones, to its allies and international partners who may face similar threats.

In an official post on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Zelenskyy affirmed that Ukraine's experience in air defense has become an indispensable pillar in the current global security landscape. He stated, "Everyone now sees that Ukraine's experience in defense is indispensable in many respects," and called for deepening military and technical cooperation with Western partners.

Tactics for confronting "Witness"... Unique field experience

The Ukrainian president's remarks come at a time when Ukrainian forces have gained extensive experience in dealing with intense air attacks. Since the start of the Russian invasion, Moscow has increasingly relied on Iranian-made Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 drones, low-cost suicide aircraft used to overwhelm air defenses and target energy infrastructure.

Kyiv has developed cost-effective strategies to counter this threat, creating “mobile fire groups” that use machine guns and anti-aircraft guns (such as the German Gepard) to shoot down these drones instead of draining expensive Western air defense missiles such as the Patriot or Iris-T – expertise that Zelensky is seeking to share to promote collective security.

Strengthening common European security

Zelensky added, "We are ready to share this experience and assist the countries that supported Ukraine this winter and throughout the war. We are ready to work on developing Europe's common defense capabilities." This statement indicates Kyiv's desire to be an active participant in the European security system, not merely a recipient of aid, especially given the growing concerns in Europe about escalating geopolitical tensions.

Call to increase defense production

In a related context, the Ukrainian president did not merely offer his expertise, but also issued a clear and urgent appeal to Western countries to significantly increase their production of air defense systems and interceptor aircraft. He explained that Europe desperately needs to build a "real force" capable of protecting its airspace, emphasizing that current stockpiles and production capacities must be doubled to meet current challenges and ensure the sustainability of support for Ukraine and the protection of NATO's eastern borders.
