Project Masam removes 1,140 mines and unexploded ordnance in one week
The Saudi Masam project achieves a new milestone by removing 1,140 mines in Yemen in one week, contributing to securing the lives of civilians and the return of displaced persons.
Saudi Project “Masam”: Impressive achievements in demining and securing the lives of civilians in Yemen
The “Masam” demining project in Yemen continues to achieve tremendous accomplishments, working tirelessly to secure the lives of civilians in liberated areas and facilitate the return of hundreds of displaced families who fled the danger of mines and improvised explosive devices.
Last week's achievements: The numbers speak for themselves
The Saudi project successfully removed 1,140 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the past week alone. The project announced via its X platform account that, from the beginning of August until the 8th, its team had removed 1,944 pieces of unexploded ordnance and 77 anti-tank mines.
The team also succeeded in clearing a vast area of 398,337 square meters of Yemeni land, which greatly contributes to securing residential and agricultural areas that were under threat.
Amazing statistics since the project's launch
Since the launch of the “Masam” project, engineering teams have removed 347,498 unexploded ordnance, 8,250 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 147,034 anti-tank mines, and 6,830 anti-personnel mines. Project Director Osama Al-Qusaibi affirms that these efforts are part of the project's humanitarian work to protect lives and restore normalcy to affected areas.
Clearing millions of square meters: A step towards sustainable development
Al-Qusaibi noted that the project's engineering teams have cleared more than 69,093,218 square meters of Yemeni land since its inception. This achievement paves the way for agriculture, housing, and sustainable development, and enhances security and stability in the liberated areas.
An official visit in recognition of the efforts made
The Deputy Governor of Marib for Defense and Security Affairs, Major General Nasser Mabrouk Raqib, along with the Commander of the Military Police in the governorate, Colonel Naji Munif, and the Director General of Legal Affairs in the governorate, Abdullah Ali Al-Mousai, visited the headquarters of the MASAM demining project in Marib. They commended the project's significant efforts to clear Yemeni lands and ensure the safety of civilians.
A look ahead: challenges and hopes
With the continued tireless efforts of the MASAM project, the future looks bright for Yemenis who aspire to live safely, free from the threat of landmines. As the cleared areas increase, the country is expected to witness an agricultural and urban renaissance that will contribute to improving the living conditions of local residents and strengthening the national economy.

Today's weather forecast: Rain, hail, and fog expected in parts of Saudi Arabia
Check the weather forecast for Tuesday in Saudi Arabia. Thunderstorms and hail are expected in Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and several other regions, with warnings of fog and dust.
The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report for today (Tuesday), indicating continued unstable weather conditions across most regions of Saudi Arabia. The report revealed a chance of light to moderate thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong winds, urging caution while traveling.
According to the center's data, the rainy weather will affect large parts of the Eastern Province and the Riyadh region, extending to southern and southwestern areas such as Najran, Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha. This weather pattern is a result of the convergence of different air currents, leading to atmospheric instability, which is common during this transitional period of the year.
In a related development, the National Center for Meteorology noted the possibility of dense fog forming during the early morning and late night hours in parts of the aforementioned regions, which could reduce horizontal visibility. The report also did not rule out the possibility of light rain extending to parts of the Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, Hail, and Al-Qassim regions, as well as the Madinah region, amidst partly cloudy skies that will create a wintry atmosphere.
On the other hand, the meteorological department warned of the impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, which may reduce horizontal visibility on highways and in open areas, particularly in parts of the Tabuk and Makkah regions, as well as areas experiencing rainfall. The diverse geography of the Kingdom plays a significant role in the variation of these weather phenomena, with the mountainous highlands of Asir and Al-Baha contributing to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, while open areas are affected by active surface winds.
These reports are of paramount importance to citizens and residents, as they contribute to raising awareness and helping people avoid potential dangers resulting from flash floods or landslides on wet roads. Experts always advise staying updated by official authorities and adhering to Civil Defense instructions, especially in areas under orange and red alerts, to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Two drones attack the US embassy in Riyadh: Full details
The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the US Embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones, resulting in a small fire. Learn more about the incident and previous attacks that were thwarted.
The official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced today (Tuesday) that the US embassy building in the capital, Riyadh, was subjected to a hostile attack carried out by two drones, according to initial assessments made by the competent authorities immediately after the incident.
The official spokesperson explained the details of the damage caused by this attack, noting that the targeting resulted in a limited fire and minor material damage to the building's facilities, without any reported human casualties, reflecting the limited impact of the attack thanks to the safety measures in place.
Context of escalation and targeting of vital sites
This incident is not isolated from the security developments witnessed in the Kingdom in recent hours. This attack comes just one day after the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed five explosive-laden drones that were attempting to target the vicinity of Prince Sultan Air Base in the Riyadh region. This base is considered one of the most important strategic military bases in the region, indicating repeated attempts to target military infrastructure.
Targeting global energy security
In a related development concerning threats to the Eastern Province, Saudi defenses also thwarted another attack involving two drones that attempted to target the Ras Tanura refinery. The targeting of Ras Tanura carries serious implications that extend beyond the local level, given that it houses one of the world's largest oil shipping ports, making any threat to it a direct threat to global energy supplies and the international economy, not just to the Kingdom's security.
Defense readiness and protection of diplomatic missions
These successive successes in thwarting attacks, whether in Riyadh or the Eastern Province, underscore the high level of readiness and efficiency of Saudi air defense systems in detecting and neutralizing aerial threats before they reach their targets. The attack on the US embassy also highlights a blatant violation of international norms and laws stipulating the protection of diplomatic missions and their exemption from conflict, as enshrined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The relevant authorities in the Kingdom continue to follow up on the investigations to gather all evidence related to the attack on the embassy, while emphasizing the Kingdom’s full commitment to protecting all civilian objects and diplomatic headquarters located on its territory against any potential terrorist threats.
