Princess Fahda honors the winners of the King Salman Award for the Holy Quran

Under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the capital, Riyadh, witnessed a prominent Quranic event on Thursday evening, as the wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Her Highness Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hathleen, graced the closing ceremony to honor the winners of the local competition for the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Award for Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran in its twenty-seventh session.

The ceremony, organized and supervised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, amidst a spiritual atmosphere celebrating a select group of the nation’s daughters who have memorized the Book of God.

An extension of the Kingdom's approach to serving the Quran

This competition is an extension of the pioneering and historic role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has played since its founding by King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – in serving and preserving the Holy Quran, through printing, publishing, and teaching. The King Salman Award for Memorizing the Holy Quran is considered one of the most important Quranic competitions, reflecting the wise leadership's commitment to raising the younger generation according to the sound Quranic principles, strengthening the values of moderation and balance within them, and protecting them from foreign ideologies.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a visual presentation that reviewed the history of the award and the generous support it has received from the leadership, highlighting the tireless efforts made by the Ministry to ensure that the competition is conducted with the highest standards of accuracy and transparency.

Speech by the Minister of Islamic Affairs

In a televised address, His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, and General Supervisor of the competition, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, affirmed that honoring these exemplary figures embodies the profound message the Kingdom carries in building individuals according to the guidance of the Quran. His Excellency explained that the competition enjoys the direct support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reflecting the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to the Quran and its people.

Al-Sheikh revealed statistics for the current session, which witnessed fierce competition. More than 3,600 male and female contestants from across the Kingdom participated in the preliminary rounds, with 129 qualifying for the final stage. The Ministry allocated substantial cash prizes for the competition, totaling 7 million riyals, to motivate and encourage the nation's youth to continue their journey of memorization and reflection.

Empowering women and promoting values

Honoring the female Quran memorizers at this event carries profound significance, affirming the status of Saudi women and their active role in society, as well as the leadership's commitment to empowering them in various fields, including Islamic law and Quranic studies. The Minister also addressed the winners, emphasizing that their success is a responsibility that necessitates embodying the ethics of the Quran and making it a way of life, so that they may be positive role models and ambassadors of the tolerant values of Islam in their communities.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Her Royal Highness Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hithlain presented the awards to the winners of the top prizes in the six categories of the competition. She also honored the female members of the judging panel with commemorative shields in recognition of their dedicated efforts. The ceremony was attended by a number of princesses, officials, and prominent figures interested in Quranic affairs, as well as the mothers of the contestants, who expressed their pride in this achievement.
