Chinese investment worth 375 million riyals in Saudi Cables
A Chinese investment of 375 million riyals will boost the logistics industry in Saudi Arabia through a cable factory at Ras Al-Khair port, a step towards developing the infrastructure.
Strategic agreement to enhance the logistics industry in the Kingdom
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the signing of a strategic agreement with China's ZTT Group to establish a state-of-the-art submarine and terrestrial cable manufacturing plant at Ras Al-Khair Port, with investments totaling SAR 375 million. The project spans 80,000 square meters, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to developing its industrial and logistical infrastructure.
The significance of the numbers and their economic impact
The investment in this project amounts to SAR 375 million, equivalent to approximately USD 100 million. This figure is a strong indicator of the growing confidence of foreign investors in the Saudi economy. Furthermore, the allocation of 80,000 square meters for the factory reflects the anticipated production volume and potential for future expansion.
The factory will produce approximately 500 kilometers of submarine cables and 500 kilometers of terrestrial cables annually, in addition to 12,500 kilometers of fiber optic cables. These figures reflect the factory's ability to meet the needs of national and regional projects in the telecommunications, energy, and infrastructure sectors, further solidifying the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub.
Local and global impact
This project falls within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil. Localizing the cable industry and attracting modern technologies directly contribute to achieving this vision. Furthermore, enhancing the Kingdom's logistical capabilities will help position it as a vital hub connecting three continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Globally, ZTT Group's entry into the Saudi market is part of its strategy to expand into the Gulf region. The group operates factories in Germany, Turkey, Morocco, and Indonesia, enhancing its global competitiveness and enabling it to capitalize on the region's rapid economic growth.
Ras Al Khair Port: An integrated industrial hub
Ras Al Khair Port is one of the Kingdom's leading industrial ports, covering a total area of 23 square kilometers, with 14 berths and a handling capacity of up to 35 million tons per year. This advanced infrastructure supports the operational processes of the new plant and provides an ideal environment for industrial and logistical growth.
Future expectations
This project is expected to contribute significantly to increasing the Kingdom's non-oil GDP and boosting local employment opportunities. It will also enhance the competitiveness of Saudi industries regionally and internationally.
In light of global economic shifts and the increasing demand for advanced communication technologies, the new cable factory is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting the growing needs of these vital industries. Furthermore, the collaboration with ZTT Group could open new avenues for investment and technological cooperation between Saudi and Chinese companies.
In conclusion , this project represents a significant step towards achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global industrial and logistics hub. The integration of local and international efforts will undoubtedly contribute to driving sustainable economic development and achieving shared prosperity for all stakeholders.
