The Cultural Fund announced today the signing of 13 credit facility agreements within the “Cultural Finance” program to finance a number of quality projects for leading companies in the film sector. This is one of the activities of its participation in the Saudi Film Forum, which was launched by the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cultural Fund, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan. The projects, whose activities range from infrastructure development, film production and distribution, to projects supporting the sector, aim to increase the contribution of the film sector to the national economy and raise the quality of life of society, along with the other 16 cultural sectors supported by the Fund.
This important event coincides with the second edition of the event, which is one of the largest for filmmakers in the Kingdom. These projects, whose funding will reach approximately 80 million riyals, will contribute to empowering the film sector, stimulating its creativity, and providing diverse job opportunities for Saudi men and women, in light of the rapid growth that the sector has witnessed since the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. It is expected that these projects will produce quality outputs that promote Saudi culture locally and globally, and raise the capabilities of local film production and the capabilities of its creators.
It is worth noting that the fund launched “Cultural Finance” at the beginning of September, to provide financing solutions for all 16 cultural sectors. The Cultural Fund will announce in the coming period other projects that will be supported in various cultural sectors, completing its mission to empower the cultural sector, achieve its sustainability, and diversify its opportunities for creativity and creators, so that its impact is reflected on the economy and society.
The Cultural Fund was established in 2021 as a development fund organizationally linked to the National Development Fund, with the aim of developing the cultural sector and achieving sustainability by supporting cultural activities and projects, facilitating investment in cultural activities and enhancing the profitability of the sector, enabling those interested to improve their cultural work, and for the fund to have an active role in achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Culture and the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
