Official poster reveals highly anticipated romantic duo
Sadek Sabbah Productions unveiled the official poster for its new series, "Sawa Sawa," announcing its participation in the upcoming Ramadan drama season. The poster features young actors Ahmed Malek and Huda El Mufti in a scene that evokes an atmosphere of love and romance, generating excitement among audiences eagerly anticipating a work that blends social drama with profound human emotions. The design suggests that an exceptional love story will be at the heart of the plot, with the two leads exchanging glances hinting at a relationship filled with passion and challenges.
Story background: A love that defies class differences
The series "Sawa Sawa" belongs to the genre of social and romantic dramas, which enjoys great popularity among Arab audiences. It revolves around a love story that blossoms between two characters from completely different worlds. Ahmed Malek plays a simple young man who works as a craftsman and lives in the historic and working-class neighborhood of Sayeda Zeinab, while Huda El Mufti portrays a young woman from an aristocratic social class. Their paths cross under unexpected circumstances, and their relationship develops, clashing with social and cultural differences, which raises questions about the ability of love to withstand such challenges.
The importance of working within the context of Ramadan drama
The series airs during Ramadan, the most prominent television event in the Arab world, where major production companies compete to present their best work. The selection of the 15-episode series "Sawa Sawa" reflects a recent trend in the industry towards fast-paced, intensive productions, which have proven successful in attracting viewers. The series is expected to have a significant impact thanks to its storyline that resonates with social realities, as well as the evident on-screen chemistry between its two leads, making it a strong contender for the highest viewership ratings.
A renewed duality between Malik and Mufti
This isn't the first collaboration between Ahmed Malek and Huda El Mufti; they've formed a successful duo in several previous works, most notably the series "Bimbo," "Tahqiq," and "Nemra Etneen." This history of successful collaborations raises expectations for their performance in "Sawa Sawa," with audiences anticipating a new development in their on-screen chemistry. The series also stars a number of prominent actors, including Noha Abdeen, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and Sherif El Desouky. Written by Mohab Tarek and directed by Essam Abdel Hamid, it promises a comprehensive and impactful dramatic experience.

BAFTA 2024 Nominations: DiCaprio Sets a Record, Fierce Competition
Comprehensive coverage of the BAFTA nominations, where 'battle after battle' leads the race and Leonardo DiCaprio achieves a historic milestone. Discover the top nominees and surprises.
BAFTA Awards: A key stop on the film awards season
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards are one of the most prestigious and long-standing events in the film industry, and are often considered the most accurate predictor of the Oscars. Founded in 1947, BAFTA honors the best in British and international cinema, giving it significant weight both nationally and globally. With this year's nominations announced, the industry's attention turns to London to follow the intense competition that sets the stage for the climax of awards season.
Fierce competition for the top spot
In a surprising turn of events, One Battle After Another narrowly edged ahead in the BAFTA nominations announced Tuesday, just a week after its rival Sinners set a record with 16 Oscar nominations. According to The Guardian, Paul Thomas Anderson's culturally charged comedy leads the pack with 14 nominations , cementing its status as one of the year's strongest films. Ryan Coogler's vampire thriller follows closely behind with 13 nominations , guaranteeing a fierce and exciting competition right up to the moment the winners are announced.
Marty Supreme and Hamnet came next with 11 nominations each, while the gothic horror film Frankenstein and the moving drama Sentimental Value eight nominations each, reflecting a great diversity in the nominated works this year.
British surprises and a notable presence of local cinema
The nominations saw a strong showing from British cinema, with the comedy Swear , an inspiring story about Tourette syndrome, surprising everyone with five nominations. The film's success wasn't limited to the Best British Film category; it also earned a well-deserved nomination for Best Actor for Robert Aramayo. The British comedy-drama The Ballad of Wallis Island three nominations, underscoring the vitality and strength of UK film production and its ability to compete with unique and innovative stories.
DiCaprio equals a historic record
Although he is considered the second favorite for Best Actor after Timothée Chalamet for his role in Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio's seventh nomination in this category equals a historic BAFTA record. With this achievement, DiCaprio joins a list of legends that includes Michael Caine, Daniel Day-Lewis, Laurence Olivier, and Jack Lemmon. Given his continued career and age, DiCaprio appears poised to break this record in the near future, adding another chapter to his already illustrious cinematic legacy.
The absence of major shocks and stars out of the race
This year's nominations list was largely free of "shocking omissions," partly due to BAFTA's adoption of six nominees in acting categories instead of the Oscars' five, thus opening the door for prominent names like Paul Mescal for Hamnet. However, the list was missing major stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, George Clooney, Sydney Sweeney, Dwayne Johnson, and Julia Roberts. Wicked : For Good , which went home empty-handed from the Oscars, made a modest showing with only two technical nominations.
The road to diversity is still long
BAFTA chair Sarah Pitt commented that the success of films like Sinners and One Battle After Another reflects viewers' search for common ground in a "divided and confusing world." Despite the nominations favoring British productions, Pitt acknowledged that the results "show there is still a long way to go for female directors," with Chloé Zhao being the only woman among the nominees in the directing category, underscoring the importance of continued efforts to ensure diversity and inclusion in the industry.
Event dates
The BAFTA awards ceremony is scheduled for February 22nd, and will be hosted this year by Alan Cumming. The Oscars ceremony will take place three weeks later, on March 15th, and will be hosted for the second time by Conan O'Brien.

Poet of the Banner 4: Crowning the winner and its impact within Vision 2030
The Poet of the Banner program concluded its fourth season with great success, cementing its position as the most important Arabic poetry program. Learn about the winners and its cultural impact within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
Poetry: The voice of conscience and the mirror of national identity
Poetry has never been merely a linguistic luxury or an art form detached from the pulse of society. Rather, it is the most profound tool for building awareness, shaping collective consciousness, and solidifying national values. With words, identity is forged; with poetry, the nation's memory is preserved; and with rhythm, the individual's connection to their homeland, history, and symbols is renewed. When poetry finds its appropriate public platform, as in the "Poet of the Banner" program, it transforms into a tremendous cultural force that creates meaning and strengthens belonging in the hearts of millions.
Historical background: From Souk Okaz to television platforms
Poetry in the Arabian Peninsula carries a rich historical legacy, having served as the "register of the Arabs," recording their achievements, history, and genealogies. Ancient Arab markets, such as the Souk Okaz, were major cultural festivals where leading poets competed for honor and recognition. In modern times, major television poetry programs like "Poet of the Banner" are a natural extension of this great heritage, leveraging the power of contemporary media to bring poetry back to the forefront of public life and present it to a new generation with innovative language and tools that preserve its authentic essence.
“Poet of the Banner”: The largest public platform for Arabic poetry
The “Poet of the Banner” program, produced by the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, is the largest poetry competition in the Arab world. The program aims to revive authentic poetic heritage by showcasing a selection of poetic talents from across the Arab world before a specialized judging panel and a wide audience. This large audience, both within the Kingdom and abroad, gives the program a unique status as a unifying platform where creative experiences converge and where the value of poetry as a vehicle for identity, memory, and beauty is reaffirmed.
Significance and Impact: From Competition to a National Cultural Project
In its fourth season, “Poet of the Banner” has solidified its presence as a strategic cultural project that transcends the concept of a mere television competition. Locally , the program contributes to discovering and supporting Saudi talent, fostering pride in national identity and cultural heritage. Regionally , the program has become a bridge for cultural exchange among poets and intellectuals across the Arab world, strengthening shared bonds. Internationally , “Poet of the Banner” presents a vibrant image of the cultural dynamism in Saudi Arabia, reflecting the Kingdom’s significant commitment to the arts and literature, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, which positions culture as a cornerstone of sustainable development and quality of life.
Symbolism of the poet-prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen
The program acquires a special symbolic depth due to its association with the name of the late Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen, may God have mercy on him. “Al-Badr” is not merely a name; he is a poetic icon who shaped the Saudi and Arab consciousness for decades, solidifying the connection between poetry and identity, beauty, and awareness. This symbolism bestows upon “The Poet of the Banner” a cultural responsibility to preserve the refinement of language and the sincerity of the message, thus becoming an extension of a distinguished poetic legacy.
A concluding scene that reflects the status of poetry
The closing ceremony was attended by a large audience that filled the theater, confirming that poetry still holds a firm place in the collective consciousness. The presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud (Al-Samar) and Prince Abdulrahman bin Musaed, both poets, added a special dimension, instilling enthusiasm in the contestants and lending the event a profound emotional quality. The official attendance of the Minister of Information and the President of the Broadcasting and Television Authority added an institutional dimension, reflecting the extent of official support for cultural activities as an integral part of the national development process.
Integration of arts and professional image production
The closing ceremony culminated in a patriotic song performed by the renowned artist Abadi Al-Johar, where poetry and music intertwined to speak to the heart in a single language. Behind this spectacle shone a high level of professionalism, spearheaded by director Bandar Al-Abdulsalam and his team at Ebdaa Media Company. They delivered a visual and directorial vision befitting the magnitude of the event, supported by a harmonious behind-the-scenes team working in perfect unison.
There are no losers in the field of culture
In the end, the winners were crowned on an unforgettable night, with poet Mohammed Al-Mahalkam taking first place and the title of “Poet of the Banner,” followed by Abdullah Al-Salakhi Al-Harthi, then Mishari Al-Abdali, and Abdullah bin Baddah Al-Jahmi. But in cultural competitions, there are no losers; everyone wins through participation and growth. And the most significant victory remains the sincere word in the nation's conscience, which looks forward to a fifth edition that will continue to solidify poetry's presence as the voice of the nation and a mirror of its consciousness, with the unlimited support of the wise leadership.
