Women in the Ministry of Interior: Security Empowerment and Field Efficiency
Learn about the growing role of women in the Saudi Ministry of Interior and their efforts in maintaining security and serving pilgrims, and review these achievements at the International Defence Exhibition 2026.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a historic transformation in its security sector, with Saudi women playing a growing and active role within the various departments of the Ministry of Interior. This presence is no longer merely symbolic; it has become a fundamental pillar that enhances the efficiency of security operations and contributes to protecting lives and property, demonstrating their competence in shouldering significant responsibilities, both in the field and behind administrative and technical desks.
Empowerment stems from an ambitious vision
This qualitative empowerment comes as a culmination of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which has opened broad horizons for Saudi women to participate in national development, including the military and security sectors. Whereas previously their roles were limited to specific areas, female personnel are now an integral part of the Ministry of Interior's strategic plans, reflecting the leadership's confidence in the capabilities of the nation's daughters to protect its resources and contribute to building its secure future.
A review of achievements at the International Defence Exhibition 2026
To highlight these efforts, the Ministry of Interior is preparing to showcase its pioneering experience in empowering women in security roles to visitors of the International Defense Exhibition 2026, scheduled to take place from February 8 to 12 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Malham. The Ministry will highlight women's contributions to maintaining security, enhancing public safety, and protecting the environment, in addition to their vital role in supporting security operations rooms and participating in international and regional conferences and events.
A pivotal role in serving the guests of God
One of the most prominent areas where female security personnel have excelled is during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. The Ministry has strengthened the participation of its female staff in serving pilgrims through various tasks, including organization, field monitoring, translation to serve pilgrims of different nationalities, and receiving reports. Female personnel also actively participate in preparing operational plans and inspecting preventative safety requirements in facilities, contributing to improved efficiency and readiness for rapid response to emergencies and minimizing risks in the holy sites.
Efficiency in outlets and digital transformation
Women's roles have not been limited to traditional field work. Female personnel have set a distinguished example in facilitating procedures at land, air, and sea ports, reflecting the Kingdom's civilized image to visitors. On the technical and professional front, women have engaged in sensitive tasks such as combating crime, working in environmental security, and restoring and processing documents. They also contribute effectively to digital transformation initiatives by developing electronic services, analyzing data, and building indicators, thus strengthening the smart infrastructure of the Kingdom's security system.

Naif Al-Waked, official spokesperson for the Saudi Public Prosecution
Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab issues a decision appointing Dr. Nayef Al-Waked as the official spokesperson for the Public Prosecution, to enhance media communication and spread legal awareness.
His Excellency the Attorney General, Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Muajab, issued an administrative decision appointing Dr. Nayef bin Musad Al-Waked as the official spokesperson for the Public Prosecution, in a step aimed at strengthening communication channels between the judicial system and various media outlets, and consolidating the principle of transparency adopted by the Kingdom in all its governmental sectors.
Dr. Nayef Al-Waked was chosen for this sensitive position due to his extensive legal and judicial experience. He previously served as the head of the Financial Fraud Prosecution, a complex case that the Public Prosecution has recently focused on with great attention. Al-Waked has also emerged as a familiar and trusted media figure through a series of television interviews and press statements that have emphasized raising awareness about the dangers of financial crimes and how to combat evolving fraud methods, making him well-suited to lead the Public Prosecution's media efforts in the coming period.
Enhancing institutional communication and legal awareness
This decision primarily aims to develop the Public Prosecution's media system and ensure the flow of accurate and reliable information to the public, especially given the proliferation of rumors and misinformation on social media platforms. The new spokesperson is expected to intensify awareness campaigns aimed at protecting society from crime before it occurs and informing citizens and residents of their legal rights and obligations, in accordance with the Kingdom's judicial system.
The Public Prosecution and keeping pace with Vision 2030
This appointment cannot be separated from the broader context of the development underway within the Saudi Arabian judicial system under the umbrella of Vision 2030. The Public Prosecution has witnessed significant strides in digital transformation and procedural governance, and the appointment of a highly qualified spokesperson reflects a commitment to keeping pace with this development both internally and externally. The Public Prosecution plays a pivotal role in protecting public and private rights and promoting swift justice, and the media serves as a supporting arm for these efforts, highlighting the agency's achievements and clarifying the facts for the public with professionalism and impartiality.
In conclusion, the appointment of Dr. Al-Waked reflects the leadership’s confidence in young national talents capable of assuming responsibility, as the coming period is expected to witness intensive media activity by the Public Prosecution focusing on the preventive and educational aspect, which will enhance community security and legal stability in the country.

Two citizens in the city were executed for drug trafficking for the second time
The Ministry of Interior carried out the death penalty against two citizens in Medina after they were convicted of transporting and distributing methamphetamine for the second time. Learn the details and circumstances.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the execution of two Saudi citizens, Eid bin Atiyah bin Eid Al-Omrani and Muhammad bin Atiyah bin Eid Al-Omrani, in the Madinah region, after they were found guilty of committing a serious crime of transporting and promoting methamphetamine pills, and repeating this crime for the second time, which necessitated the application of the maximum legal and regulatory penalties against them.
In its official statement, the Ministry explained that, thanks to God and the vigilance of the security forces, the competent security authorities were able to apprehend the two perpetrators. Following the completion of the investigation, they were formally charged with the crime. Upon their referral to the competent court, a legal ruling was issued confirming the charges against them and sentencing them to death by way of discretionary punishment (ta'zir) due to the seriousness of their crime and their history of criminal activity. The ruling became final after being appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court, and a royal decree was issued ordering the execution of the legally mandated sentence.
The war on drugs: a resolute national context
This sentence is carried out within the context of the comprehensive and ongoing security campaign launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the banner of "The War on Drugs." The wise leadership places great importance on protecting society from this destructive scourge, and security agencies have recently intensified their proactive and field efforts to track down smuggling and trafficking networks, both local and international, to ensure the eradication of these poisons that target the minds of young people and the nation's resources.
Legal and social dimensions of the ruling
The death penalty, especially given the reference to the crime being committed "for the second time," reflects the judiciary's firm stance in dealing with repeat offenders. A drug dealer who re-offends after a first sentence demonstrates a persistent intent to spread corruption, necessitating a deterrent punishment to protect society from their evil. Methamphetamine (crystal meth) is among the most dangerous drugs, causing severe mental and physical damage, and often driving its users to commit violent crimes, making its dealers a serious threat to public safety and security.
The Ministry of Interior concluded its statement by affirming the keenness of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to maintain security and achieve justice, while warning anyone who dares to commit such criminal acts that the legal punishment will be their inevitable fate, in order to protect the security of the homeland and the safety of its citizens and residents on its lands.
